10 Game Of Thrones Characters Karma Eventually Caught Up With

Karma eventually caught up with some characters in Game Of Thrones, which satisfied many fans.

Death is a word and concept synonymous with the hit television series Game Of Thrones, which became known for not shying away from killing off major characters. However, with an array of complex characters to hand, there are inevitably those who don’t necessarily deserve death and also those who do as consequence for their actions.

Karma sees multiple characters killed off in ways that they often used themselves or tempted through their own decisions. Karmic deaths are certainly among the more effective ways of killing off characters, giving the moments more impact and poetic meaning.

10 Cersei Antagonized Daenerys At Every Opportunity Not Knowing The Potential Cost

Daenerys Targaryen’s descent into chaos is one of the main complaints that fans have about the final season of Game Of Thrones because it was so sudden. While she ultimately had to be killed to stop her tyrannical reign from beginning, it was hardly a slow-burning act of karma catching up with her.

On the other hand, Cersei Lannister was one of the more consistent villains in the show, committing various atrocities along the way. When it boiled down to the final war between herself and Daenerys, Cersei foolishly antagonized a vengeful Targaryen and essentially prompted the carnage that followed. Cersei was buried beneath the rubble of the Red Keep and killed.

Walder Frey Was Eventually Made To Pay For The Red Wedding Massacre

Walder Frey broke guest right when he committed the atrocity of the Red Wedding. By striking deals with the Boltons and Lannisters, Walder watched on as Robb Stark, Robb’s pregnant wife, Catelyn Stark, and the rest of the Stark soldiers in attendance were massacred.

This was in response to Robb disrespecting Walder by breaking previously made promises. This heinous act would ultimately put an inevitable target on his back and Arya Stark would return to get her revenge. She slit Walder’s throat after serving him pies made from his own sons before posing as him to poison the rest of his men. This massacre closely resembled the Red Wedding, serving as karma and vengeance.

Ellaria Sand Was Made To Watch Her Daughter Die After Inflicting The Same On The Lannisters

When Ellaria Sand witnessed the brutal annihilation of her beloved Oberyn Martell at the hands of the Mountain, it was inevitable that she would launch some sort of response. Despite not immediately showing her hand, she eventually retaliated by killing the innocent Myrcella.

With Myrcella dying in the arms of her father Jaime, Ellaria would later be faced with further retaliation from Cersei. She was captured by the Lannister-Greyjoy alliance and imprisoned with her daughter Tyene. Tyene was then poisoned in the same way that Myrcella was and Ellaria was left to watch and endure the consequences of her actions.

Viserys Paid The Price For Disrespecting His Sister And The Dothraki

Viserys Targaryen thought he was destined for great things when he made a deal with the great Khal Drogo. However, little did he know that the destiny of a returning Targaryen to Westeros was not for him, but for his sister Daenerys. He became increasingly more desperate and unpleasant when he realized that everybody was warming to Daenerys over himself.

This eventually led to him taking a sword into Vaes Dothrak, a forbidden act, before demanding that Khal Drogo give him what he was owed. Drogo gave him the golden crown, just not in the way that Viserys wanted. Instead, it was molten gold poured directly onto Viserys’ head. Ultimately he played with fire and got burned, a fate not befitting a true dragon of the Targaryens.

Karl Tanner Mocked Honor Before Being Stabbed Twice From Behind

Karl Tanner was one of the deserters from the Night’s Watch, instigating the coup by killing the very creepy Craster. He named himself the leader of the deserters and was the main obstacle for Jon and the returning brothers to overcome.

He openly mocked Jon for fighting with honor and reveled in his new life. However, he was stabbed in the back by one of the women he had been abusing. This allowed Jon to then stab him through the back of the head. Being stabbed twice from behind was karmic, given his mockery of fighting with honor.

Lysa Arryn Was Sent Out The Moon Door By The Man She Had Previously Killed For

Despite being the sister of Catelyn Stark, Lysa Arryn was shown to be a troubled character. It was later revealed that she poisoned her husband Jon Arryn at the behest of Littlefinger, whom she loved deeply.

From her seat of power within the Eyrie, Lysa Arryn took pleasure in using the Moon Door as an intimidating tool of threat and danger. Being thrown out of the Moon Door meant certain death, and it just so happened to be how she died. She was thrown out by Littlefinger himself after Lysa had threatened Sansa and crossed a line.

Tywin Was Killed In A Humiliating Way By The Son He Had Tormented For Years

Tywin Lannister always expressed himself as the proud leader of the Lannisters, but he often favored politics over showing any care towards his children. He actively expressed hatred towards Tyrion on multiple occasions, resenting Tyrion for being the cause of his wife’s death.

For all the power and assurance that Tywin exuded, he would be killed in one of the more humiliating ways possible. After years of ridicule, Tyrion Lannister snapped after after seeing his former lover in his father’s bed. He fired multiple crossbow bolts into his father as he was using the restroom. This is an undignified way to go for such a proud man, but ultimately a fate he had tempted multiple times over.

Littlefinger’s Years Of Treachery Finally Caught Up To Him

Petyr Baelish, known as Littlefinger, prided himself on his ability to navigate the realm and remain on top. He struck deals and switched allegiances to save his own skin. He would have kept on getting away with it if not for Bran’s abilities as the Three-Eyed Raven.

Bran recalled how Baelish had once held a knife to Eddard Stark’s neck in betrayal, and it was his own throat that would eventually be slit by Arya Stark. This scene depicted the three remaining Stark children combining their new strengths to overcome the threat who had played a role in splitting their family apart. Sansa led the way, condemning Littlefinger with the cunning that he had taught her.

Joffrey Was Killed Because Of The Beast That He Had Become

As soon as Joffrey became king after the death of Robert Baratheon, he was a tyrannical menace. He had no sense of patience or rationality, and always wanted to choose the path that showed off his power the most. Corrupted by power but lacking the courage to do things himself, Joffrey became disillusioned and assumed people adored him.

His death was arranged by Lady Olenna Tyrell, who wouldn’t allow her daughter Margaery to marry and be subjected to a monster like Joffrey. Joffrey had spent his wedding feast mocking Tyrion and doing as he pleased, but the poison brought this to a sudden end.

Ramsay Bolton Was Too Despicable To Not Warrant A Karmic Death

Ramsay Snow, later named Ramsay Bolton, was the bastard son of Roose Bolton and is still considered to be one of the most despicable villains in Game Of Thrones. From his brutal torture of Theon Greyjoy to his despicable treatment of Sansa Stark, he went on to commit numerous atrocities throughout the series.

Besides the Bolton’s love of flaying their victims, Ramsay took a particular pleasure in feeding people to his hounds. This made it all the more satisfying when Sansa did the same back to him and Jon took back Winterfell from his dastardly clutches.
