Mandalorian Season 3 Might Include Parks & Rec Star

The Mandalorian season 3 might have cast Parks and Recreation star Jim O'Heir, who played Jerry on NBC's hit show, in a mystery role.

The Mandalorian season 3’s cast might include Parks and Recreation star Jim O’Heir. Now that The Book of Boba Fett has wrapped up its first season, fans of the galaxy far, far away are starting to think about what else is on the horizon. Lucasfilm has multiple Star Wars shows in development for Disney+, but the return of The Mandalorian is among the most anticipated. Jon Favreau’s series has become a huge hit over the course of its last two seasons and the exploration of Din Djarin and Grogu’s relationship.

Even though The Mandalorian season 2 came out at the end of 2020, the release of The Book of Boba Fett meant audiences would have to wait longer for the main show to properly return. Boba Fett’s spinoff provided some insight into Din and Grogu’s journeys after season 2’s finale, but they weren’t the focus. The Mandalorian season 3 is currently in production after filming began in October 2021. It is expected that the series is nearing the end of production, though, as reports suggest, it could still release on Disney+ by the end of this year. The Mandalorian season 3 is mostly a mystery at this point, as the new season has not had nearly as many leaks as season 2.

It now appears that a new The Mandalorian season 3 cast member has been revealed. Former Parks and Recreation star Jim O’Heir recently appeared on Alan Yang and Rob Lowe’s podcast about the series, Parks and Recollection. At the end of the episode, Jim O’Heir is asked about what he’s working on now but is extremely hesitant to reveal any details beyond he’s filming something in New Mexico. This prompted his former co-star and the podcast’s co-host Rob Lowe to jump in and say he knows the project Jim is working on. Lowe says a phrase that the latest installment of this series rhymes with, and it is clear he’s rhyming to Star Wars. Since The Mandalorian season 3 is the only Star Wars project confirmed to be filming, it appears Parks and Rec’s Jerry actor is part of the cast.

If Jim O’Heir is in The Mandalorian season 3, he’s the only known new actor associated with the show. It is known that the new season will bring back many familiar characters and actors, including Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), and Greef Karga (Carl Weathers). Many also expect to see more of Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant), Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen). The Mandalorian season 3 is also potentially using Grand Admiral Thrawn and could bring back other known characters.

Although it isn’t confirmed that Jim O’Heir is in The Mandalorian season 3, it would not be too surprising to see him take on a mystery role with the series. Jon Favreau has shown a tendency to cast comedic actors for supporting roles to keep the tone light, such as Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto, Taika Waititi as IG-11, Bill Burr as Mayfield, Horatio Sanz as Mythrol, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Carson Teva. Jim O’Heir could be the latest comedic actor to join The Mandalorian and bring some of his Jerry energy to season 3.
