Breaking Bad Movie El Camino Finally Gets AMC Premiere Date

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie finally gets a premiere date on cable network AMC, which also plans a full month-long Breaking Bad marathon.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie finally has a premiere date on AMC. The cable network aired the original Breaking Bad TV series beginning in 2008, and reaped the rewards in terms of prestige as the show went on to garner 16 Emmy awards, 2 Golden Globes and loads of other honors over the course of its five season run.

That run of course ended in 2013 with the acclaimed final episode “Felina,” which wrapped up the twisting saga of cold-blooded teacher-turned-meth-kingpin Walter White and his hapless apprentice Jesse Pinkman in brutal but satisfying fashion. After such a truly grand finale, it really seemed there would be no reason for Breaking Bad to ever find its way back to screens – outside of spinoffs like the also-acclaimed Better Call Saul – but in a twist worthy of the show, 2019 saw the arrival of a surprise Breaking Bad movie centered on Aaron Paul’s Pinkman in the hectic days after the events of the series finale. Produced by Netflix, the one-off movie gave the Pinkman character a relatively happy ending after all the misery he suffered on the show – much of it at the hands of his own supposed friend White – while giving fans a second chance to say goodbye to many beloved characters (including White himself, who appeared in a flashback).

Now after playing for a limited time in theaters while also debuting on Netflix, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is finally making its way to the network that started it all. As reported by TV Line, the movie will make its AMC debut on Sunday, February 16 at 8 PM ET as the capper to a full Breaking Bad marathon.

For those wishing to get in on that Breaking Bad marathon and relive the exploits of Walter White, Jesse Pinkman and company, the whole thing kicks off on January 19 at 4 PM ET with season 1, with season 2 arriving on January 26 at 8 PM, season 3 on February 2 at 8 PM, season 4 on February 9 at 8 PM and season 5 on February 16 at 1:30 PM.

Of course, by now most Breaking Bad fans have already caught El Camino either in theaters during its very short run or certainly on Netflix, but AMC has given those fans a reason to see it one more time by unleashing a full marathon. Breaking Bad indeed is arguably the perfect series to watch in marathon fashion given its well-plotted story and tidy 62 episode run. In fact, the series was one of the first to usher in the era of binge watching after its seasons began being released on DVD, and it remains one of the most bingeable prestige TV shows of all time. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie only serves as a nice coda to what was already a nearly perfect piece of storytelling.
