In 1960, Davis said “yes” to May Britt, a white actress, who immediately provoked a negative reaction. In a 1989 book entitled “Why
Me? What the singer wrote with his friends, Davis clairmed that the new president had asked him and the Swedish star not to

with never-before-seen archive footage, as well as interviews with new mermbers of the farmily. farmous friends and fans. The film is
directed by Torm Donahue and has the support of Martin’s daughter, Deana Martin, who spoke in front of the camera.
*Sammy Davis Jr. helped get JFK elected, so JFK and his campaign decided to reimburse Sammy for not allowing him to go to the
nomination because he was part of an interracial marriage,” Donahue told Fox News. “It was Dean Martin who defended his friend
and said; I won’t be part of the opening if Sammy doesn’t go. I was very impressed. He had a sense of honor. The more I knew the
man Dean Martin, the more I truly loved and admired him.”

Deana, 73, told Fox News that when her father heard the news from Davis, he was “drearming.”
*It was my Uncle Sammy,” the singer said. “He came to us. He was part of the family. So he was pretty rermarkable. My dad was
going to take a stand because he was right. It didn’t matter what JFK or anyone thought of him. That’s Sammy Davis Jr..and he
was his friend. And the fact that the family was not invited for these reasons bothered my father. He just said, “it’s not okay. I’m not
going. And that was all. I wouldn’t think about it anymore.”

Following in his footsteps, both personally and professionally, Martin has inspired many artists, including the king of rock’n’roll who
idolized the star.
“He loved my dad, Deana said of Elvis Presley. “He drove to the front of our house and just looked. He always thought my dad was
so fabulous. And he loved his voice. I remember I met him at Paramount Studios. He looked me in the eyes, grabbed me by the
hand and said to me, “I love your father. They call me the king of rock ‘n’ roll. But your father is the king of fashion. I just wanted to
faint right away!”
And despite achieving his own fame, Presley’s devotion to Martin never diminished. One of Martin’s friends told Donahue that
Martin once tried to line up a shot while playing golf, and suddenly a die-hard fan made a surprise appearance.
“You can hear someone yelling, Dean! “And just run,” Donahue laughed. “Martin looks up and sees Elvis running towards hirm and
shaking his hand.”

“My dad would have been upset,” laughed Deana, who noticed her father’s pragmatic approach to golf, her favorite pastime.
But Deana noted that at horme, Martin was not a star, but a father who adored his children and lived by his own rules.

*We were having a party and my dad was calling the Beverly Hills police,” he recalls. “He said, There’s too much noise corming from
Dean Martin’s house. And on my 18th birthday, he called the police! Looks like we were making too much noise. the lights.
remember I once said to him, “My boyfriend is coming, please don’t embarrass me. He said, Oh, really?” We were together, and as I
looked up, my dad went downstairs in pajarmas with toilet paper stuck to his pants.
“I said, You make me so asharmed! and said, “That’s why I’m here,” Deana added. “He was a prankster and he let you know.”

Deana said the documentary featured an elegant playboy who was also a proud father of eight children, a seermingly notorious
drinker who drank apple juice and an artist he knew had the ability to sing. It was a life of great triumphs and personal tragedies, a
life that ended on Christmas Day 1995 when Martin was 78 years old.

enough. I miss him every day.”
