One of the most famous actors in 1970s television will be in a play in Albany this June.

Demond Wilson, playing Lamont Sanford, co-starred with comedian Redd Foxx in the NBC series “Sanford and Son,” which aired for six seasons in the 1970s on WALB and NBC.

Since then, Wilson has become a speaker and has continued to act as well. On June 11th, he’ll be appearing in the play “A Measure of a Man” at the Albany Municipal Auditorium.

Wilson says that the play is a lot like the show. He says it deals with universal themes and can speak to all groups.

“The characters in the play are African American, but so were Redd and I. And that message is still resounding around the world. It’s about the love between a father and a son.”

Wilson, who was born in Valdosta, has also written 11 books. His latest book is called Second Banana which talks about his time in the show.
