Excellent! New ‘Bill & Ted’ movie is officially happening with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are ready to regress.

The two announced Wednesday that they’ll shoot “Bill & Ted: Face the Music” this summer – three decades after they first got together.

It’s the third movie for the time-traveling duo, who hit it big in 1989’s “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” For those keeping score, it’s been nearly 28 years since their last follow-up, 1991’s “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.”

Reeves, 54, has made the unlikely journey back to playing Theodore “Ted” Logan with Winter, 53, as William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. The now middle-aged besties will set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe.

The duo thanked fans who have long rallied to bring them back together onscreen.

“It is all because of you guys,” Winter says. “We owe you a huge debt of gratitude and we wanted to stay thank you.”

“And be excellent,” Reeves added.

“Face the Music” is expected in theaters nationwide on Aug. 21, 2020.

News of the movie production beginning and the new release date immediately went viral. This was duly noted with a tweet from the “Bill & Ted 3” twitter account, “WHOA. We’re totally trending, dude!”
