Game of Thrones Prequel Adds Two More To Cast
House of the Dragon, the prequel series to HBO's hit Game of Thrones show, adds actors Milly Alcock and Emily Carey to its all-star cast.
HBO’s upcoming series, House of the Dragon, has officially added two more members to the cast. The show, which is a prequel to the network’s widely successful Game of Thrones, is set to debut on the streaming service in 2022. Production started in April and will feature ten straight-to-series episodes.
In a report from ComicBook, it was confirmed that Milly Alcock and Emily Carey would each be guest stars in the fantasy series’ first season. The show is set around 170 years before Game of Thrones and will focus on the legendary House Targaryen. Alcock, best known for her work in 2019’s Upright, will play the younger version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Carey, best known for her role in Netflix’s Get Even, will play the young Alicent Hightower, the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King.
House of the Dragon is co-created by George R.R. Martin, the author of Fire & Blood, on which the upcoming show is based. Game of Thrones vets Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal will serve as co-showrunners, alongside executive producers Martin and Vince Gerardis. House of the Dragon will center around a vicious civil war that sends Westeros into chaos after King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) dies.
The forthcoming series is just one of six Game of Thrones shows currently in development as HBO builds on Martin’s epic universe. With so much in the future for the Game of Thrones world and its subsequent spinoff series, a lot remains to be seen. After much backlash from fans following its disappointing series finale, House of the Dragon has a unique opportunity to fix the Game of Thrones legacy.
