Impeachment: American Crime Story casts The Sopranos star, Edie Falco, as Hillary Clinton. Executive produced by Ryan Murphy, the anthology crime series debuted in 2016 and tackled the events surrounding the O.J. Simpson murder trial. Continuing to highlight famous crimes from the ‘90s, season 2 focused on the assassination of fashion designer, Gianni Versace. Last year, it was announced that the third installment would zero in on the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, as told from Monica Lewinsky’s point of view. Now, the upcoming series has tapped Emmy-winning Falco in a vital role.

Per Deadline, Falco has been cast as former first lady, Hillary Clinton, in Impeachment: American Crime Story. One of the final characters of the infamous scandal to be cast, Falco joins an impressive roster of talent, which includes Beanie Feldstein as Lewsinky, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones, and Betty Gilpin as political commentator, Ann Coulter. Reportedly, FX is expected to release Impeachment in 2021.

Based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down A PresidentImpeachment will be a great platform to showcase the talents of Falco. Of course, it has been previously emphasized that the former first lady would not be a significant character in the series, as the show will revolve around Lewsinky’s perspective. However, Falco’s ability to inhabit her roles and elevate any scene she appears in makes her the ideal choice to tackle the complex character of Hilary Clinton in Impeachment: American Crime Story.
