‘Little House on the Prairie’ Star Alison Arngrim Actually Met Laura Ingalls’ Relative

Little House on the Prairie star Alison Arngrim actually met a relative connected with Laura Ingalls. We kid you not, Outsiders.

Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson on the NBC family drama, talked about it in an interview with Smashing Interviews.

Interviewer Melissa Parker asks, “Have you met any relatives of Laura Ingalls?”

“I have,” Arngrim replies. “One of Charles Ingalls’ relatives came to the set years ago.

“When I was in South Dakota recently with a bunch of the cast, some of the baby Carrie relatives were there,” the Little House on the Prairie actress said. “I met a Mr. Kirry who is the great-grandson of Nellie Owens and her husband. So, I did actually get to speak with my own great-grandchild (laughs).”

Why the interest in these relatives? Because the show was based on the Little House books written by Lara Ingalls Wilder. Laura is the character Melissa Gilbert played on the show. She’s also the character, among many, that Nellie got into trouble with.

Little House on the Prairie was Michael Landon’s first series after Bonanza ended its run on NBC.

‘Little House on the Prairie’ Star Talks About Worst Things Fans Have Done

Yes, there have been a lot of things that Little House on the Prairie fans have done.

But there are a lot of fans who really think that Arngrim is still Nellie. All these years later.

Yes sir, some kind of fans, aren’t they?

In 2010, Arngrim talked to Smashing Interviews about fans reacting harshly to her.

“Well, I got hit by a soda can in the Santa Monica Christmas parade,” Arngrim said. “That was nice. Of course, there were the girls who knocked me to the pavement. I talk about that in the book. People still have it in their heads that I’m Nellie Oleson. It’s not just the kids, it’s the grown-ups also.”

But wait, there’s more, Outsiders.

Arngrim talked about even being at a party hosted by co-star Melissa Gilbert.

While there, a woman at the party walked up and talked with Gilbert and Arngrim.

“‘It’s so nice to see you two getting along finally,’” Arngrim says the woman said to them both.

“Melissa and I thought, ‘What is she talking about?’ The woman said, ‘Well, you made up,’” Arngrim says. “Then Melissa said, ‘Oh no, you mean on the show!’ This woman had to have been 40 years old and she couldn’t figure out why I was at a party at Melissa’s house.”

Arngrim and Gilbert have gone on to have careers in their own ways. We think that it might be needed to say that they are actresses who performed in roles. Their lives also have gone on past the show, too.
