Skyrim Fan Recreates Scenes From The Sopranos In-Game

A YouTube creator and fan of Skyrim has mashed together the role-playing game with the hit crime drama The Sopranos, with some hilarious results.

An enterprising YouTube creator has mashed up the crime drama The Sopranos with the ever-popular RPG Skyrim, imagining the show’s characters inhabiting the snowy setting of the Bethesda RPG. The latest Elder Scrolls title has one of the most dedicated modding community in gaming, with thousands of mods available to players across all platforms. They allow users to do everything from adding new missions and characters to developing ridiculous things like a “Skyrim’s Got Talent” game show, but not all of the game’s best online creations come from modders.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is arguably Bethesda’s most successful and popular game, perhaps even eclipsing the any entry in the modern Fallout series. The 2011 open-world title has now been out for as long as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was when Skyrim first released, the largest gap in mainline series entries yet. That means that more than 3,400 days have passed since Bethesda releases a new entry in one of its biggest franchises, a wait that is set to continue until the release of The Elder Scrolls VI.

In the meantime, YouTube user Pertinax has skillfully mashed together The Sopranos (whose meme presence has surged in recent months) with Skyrim to make something truly unique. In a series of videos, the creator has taken characters and dialog out of classic scenes from the television show and set them in the world of popular RPG. The videos feature favorites such as Tony Soprano, Bobby Baccalieri, Hesh Rabkin, Christopher Moltisanti, and Paulie Gualtieri doing everything from roasting musical bards to hunting down the White Stag. There are currently four videos featuring the unlikely crossover, with more likely on the way in the future.

Although Bethesda has not yet confirmed the existence of The Elder Scrolls 6, there are some indications that the publisher might announce the game during the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda E3 2021 showcase. Set to be held on June 13, the joint event will likely give fans updates on titles such as Starfield and Halo Infinite. This is will be the first major event that Bethesda has featured in since Microsoft acquired the company and its in-house developers in 2020.

The fact that modders are still creating interesting and hilarious content for Skyrim almost a decade after it initially launched is a testament to its popularity and community support. Few games have such a strong following but the constant updates from mods of all types mean there is always something new for players to try out when they come back to the game.
