Mandalorian Season 3 Fan Poster Brings Doc & The DeLorean To Star Wars

A new Star Wars fan poster sees Back to the Future's Doc Brown and the time traveling DeLorean join the cast of The Mandalorian season 3.

A new Star Wars fan poster sees Doc Brown and the time traveling DeLorean added to The Mandalorian season 3. Premiering in 2019, the Star Wars show was a smash hit and ushered in a new era of the franchise on the small screen. Centered on the mysterious bounty hunter Din Djari (Pedro Pascal) and his journey to protect the Jedi youngling Grogu, the series mixed both western and samurai imagery to create a visceral action-adventure experience.

The Mandalorian season 2 left the titular hero completing his mission by delivering Grogu to the young Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Din Djarin also gained ownership of the Darksaber by defeating the Imperial villain Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) with assistance from former Mandalore ruler Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), a warrior who once wielded the famed Mandalorian Jedi relic. However, Din Djarin’s most recent appearance was in The Mandalorian spin-off show The Book of Boba Fett, where Din reunited with Grogu after the young Jedi left Skywalker’s newly founded school to fight alongside his friend on Tatooine.

With the recent news that Christopher Lloyd has joined the cast of The Mandalorian season 3, excited Reddit user u/B1TAH1 posted an edited fan-made poster that included the Back to the Future character Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown and his time traveling DeLorean. Bathed in a purple hue, the poster has Grogu positioned in the center with Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker, Din Djarin, and Doc Brown placed above. The DeLorean completes the image as it arcs across the sky. Check out the poster below.

Christopher Lloyd’s most famous cinematic role was as Doc Brown, the eccentric inventor of time travel in the iconic ’80s sci-fi film Back to the Future. The strangely brilliant scientist configured a DeLorean with a nuclear power “flux capacitor” to propel the vehicle through time. What role Lloyd will play in The Mandalorian season 3 is currently unknown and details of the season have been kept under wraps.

Lloyd’s casting may seem at odds with the tone of show but his reveal shouldn’t come as a complete surprise due to previous casting decisions. Foul-mouthed stand-up comedian Bill Burr was the last person fans expected to see join the deep lore of Star Wars. But after an excellent performance as the mercenary Migs Mayfield, he became one of the many highlights of both the first and second season. Although Lloyd’s purpose in season 3 remains a mystery, fans will most likely be pleasantly surprised with what creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have in store for him. The Mandalorian season 3 is set to premiere in the second half of 2022.
