‘Little House on the Prairie’ Star Michael Landon’s Daughter Raises Awareness About Pancreatic Cancer

In 1991, pancreatic cancer claimed the life of “Little House on the Prairie” star Michael Landon. He was only 54 years old at the time of his death.

Landon left behind a legacy of television excellence. He was a success in that beloved Western family drama, as well as in “Bonanza” and “Highway to Heaven.”

Michael Landon also left behind a family. With November being Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, one of his children is doing what she can to raise awareness about the deadly disease.

That child is Jen Landon. Like her father, she is also a television actor. Jen is known for her roles as Teeter in “Yellowstone” and also as Sarah Allen in “FBI: Most Wanted.”

According to Too Fab, 38-year-old Jen is taking part in a campaign created by PacCan. That organization is the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The purpose of this campaign is to get families talking about testing for the deadly disease.

Jen Landon Urges Families to Talk About Testing for Pancreatic Cancer

“Thirty years ago my father Michael Landon passed away from pancreatic cancer just three months after his diagnosis. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and this month PanCAN is talking about the importance of testing for patients and their families,” the “Little House on the Prairie” star’s daughter explains in the campaign video.

Jen Landon then urges people to take action in the battle against pancreatic cancer. “”So contact PanCAN Patient Services to learn three simple steps that can save your life: Talk, test and take control. You will make a world of difference,” the actress also said.

When “Little House on the Prairie” star Michael Landon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Jen Landon was only 7 years old. Also, when the beloved television star received his diagnosis, he was only given one month to live. Landon, however, fought the disease and was able to live for three months.

A ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Co-Star Is Also Raises Awareness About Pancreatic Cancer

Jen Landon isn’t the only person close to “Little House on the Prairie” star Michael Landon who is raising awareness about pancreatic cancer.

Another person joining in on the effort is actress Melissa Gilbert. She, of course, played Laura Ingalls in the beloved television show. Laura was the daughter of Landon’s character, Charles Ingalls.

Gilbert recently made her efforts aware via social media. While she honored Michael Landon, she also honored another actor whose life was claimed by the disease. That other actor was “dirty Dancing” and “Road House” star Patrick Swayze. He passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2009 at the age of 57.

“It’s Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month! I’m joining @PanCAN to raise awareness for this disease in honor of Michael Landon and Patrick Swayze,” Gilbert shared. “Please donate to PanCAN to help provide free, one-to-one support and services to #pancreaticcancer patients and their families.”
