To celebrate the announcement of Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, fans can unlock Dada Zarude and a Shiny Celebi in Pokémon Sword and Shield

To celebrate the announcement of Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, The Pokémon Company confirmed that eager fans will be able to unlock two unique pocket monsters.

Players will be able to capture a Shiny Celebi and Dada Zarude, both of whom feature in Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, in Pokémon Sword and Shield by signing up for Pokémon Trainer Club email notifications. Once trainers are registered, they will receive an email containing a distribution code for both Pokémon on Oct. 7, a day before Secrets of the Jungle premieres on Netflix. In order to qualify for the celebratory reward, players will need to sign up before Sept. 25.

“During Pokémon’s 25th anniversary year, we wanted fans to have the opportunity to experience the newest animated Pokémon movie simultaneously as a global community,” said Emily Arons, senior vice president of licensing at The Pokémon Company International. “Pokémon animation is a much-beloved pillar of the franchise, and Netflix is the perfect partner to once again help us deliver a worldwide moment for fans as we celebrate 25 years of action and adventure with Ash and his Pikachu.”

Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle tells the story of Koko, a human boy raised by a Zarude, a sophisticated Mythical Pokémon that abandoned his troop. Completely cut off from human society, Koko grows up believing himself to be like his adopted parent, seeing himself as a Pokémon. Yet a chance meeting with Ash and Pikachu throw’s the boy’s identity into chaos as he begins to question who he really is and how he fits into the world.

Pokémon enthusiasts have a lot to be excited about in the coming months. Beyond the release of Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, fans can expect two new video games: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

A remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will see trainers return to the Sinnoh region. The games will sport a completely new visual style and include several significant gameplay improvements including Pokémon Hideaways, customizable Poké Ball animations and player-character cosmetics. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 19.

As for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, this spin-off game tasks players with creating the first functional Pokédex of the Hisui Region, a smaller zone found within Sinnoh. This third-person action-adventure game will include an overhauled combat system, various modes of Pokémon transport across land, water and air, and a variety of unique characters, factions and questlines. Pokémon Legends: Arceus launches for Nintendo Switch on Jan. 28.

As for Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, the animated film releases globally on Netflix on Oct. 8.
