The Mandalorian Gets Its Own Panel At Star Wars Celebration

Details have emerged on the standalone Mandalorian panel that will take place during this year's Star Wars Celebration, the first since 2019.

Details about The Mandalorian panel at this year’s Star Wars Celebration have emerged. The event is returning for the first time since 2019, at which time the cast and crew of The Mandalorian were only able to reveal minor details about the series’ first season. Panels at Star Wars Celebration for other live-action series also include Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor.

Many things have happened in The Mandalorian universe ever since its first appearance at Star Wars Celebration. With 2.5 seasons released, including Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) 3-episode appearance in The Book of Boba Fett, and season 3 now in post-production, there’s a lot for the cast and crew of the series to discuss. The existence of Grogu (Baby Yoda) hadn’t even been revealed yet the last time they appeared. From the introduction to The Mandalorian‘s small corner of the Star Wars universe to the adaptation of iconic animated characters such as Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), the expansion of Din’s journey leaves many things for those involved with the series to discuss.

Now, Star Wars has revealed that executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will lead their very own “Mando+: A Conversation with Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni” panel at Celebration. The panel’s info also mentions that the duo will be joined by “special guests” as they take “a look back and a look ahead” at The Mandalorian and its story. With cast members such as Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), and Katee Sackhoff recently announced to be attending the event, it’s possible they’ll be among the “special guests” joining Favreau and Filoni.

The “look back” will no doubt cover what’s occurred thus far in The Mandalorian universe, which leaves the intriguing tease of the “look ahead,” possibly suggesting the reveal of new season 3 footage. Favreau and Filoni could also reveal their plans for the series beyond season 3. With a Mandalorian novel being canceled in favor of showing more of the story on-screen, it’s also possible that Favreau and Filoni could reveal an expanding Mandalorian universe, whether that means more seasons, spinoffs, or maybe even a feature film of its own.

There are still just under 2 months to go until Star Wars Celebration, which leaves time for even more details to be revealed. At least 5 cast members of The Mandalorian have been confirmed to be in attendance thus far, though lead actor Pascal himself has had yet to join them. Filming for the upcoming HBO The Last of Us series may interfere with his ability to attend. Despite that, Favreau and Filoni’s presence and leadership in a Mandalorian-centric conversation will hopefully provide viewers with more insight into the show. With  the release of The Mandalorian season 3 on the horizon, viewers ought to keep an eye on the “Mando+” panel to get an idea of what’s to come in the next chapter of Din’s story.
