This Is How Anya Chalotra Really Feels About Henry Cavill

Sure they work together on 'The Witcher,' but how does Anya Chalotra really feel about Henry Cavill?

Especially today, fans best know Anya Chalotra as the actress who plays Yennefer in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher. Of course, the show stars DC Comics star Henry Cavill as the titular character.

In the story, Yennefer becomes Cavill’s love interest, leading to many interesting scenes between the two. Fans are also hoping that the two characters do end up together in the end since they somewhat do in the books (although the ending is rather ambiguous).

At the moment, it is unclear how soon season three will be released. Recent reports indicate that the script is still in development.

For now, both Chalotra and Cavill have been busy pursuing other projects. That said, it seems Cavill is never far from Chalotra’s mind. After all, the DC actor has left quite an impression on his castmate.

Henry Cavill Had To Prove Chemistry With Anya Chalotra To Land The Role

Yennefer may essentially be a secondary lead in the story. Nonetheless, the character was the first one that the show cast for.

For the show’s casting director, Sophie Holland, this part was rather “easy: since Chalotra had already been on her radar for some time. “I had met Anya on her first-ever professional audition for another project,” she told Metro. “I just knew immediately that we would work together.”

That said, Chalotra still had to prove that she would be the perfect Yennefer.

“Originally, when I went for Yennefer, I did three rounds [of auditions],” the actress told Collider. “I wanted the part, more and more, every time I went through the audition process.”

And when she auditioned, everyone in the room was convinced that they found the right actress even if Chalotra didn’t have many acting credits at that time.

“In the initial conversation when we were talking about our top 10 girls, Anya was on it but she was completely unknown. She’d not done anything and I wondered how I was gonna sell it,” Holland explained. “I didn’t need to sell it. That was the easiest find.”

After Chalotra had been cast, it was time to find the other actors for the series. Of course, they had to find their Geralt and it just so happened that Cavill had been trying to get in touch with them about the part.

“We’ve got Henry’s agent calling saying he loves the project, he wants to meet for it. How can we make this happen?” Holland recalled. As it turns out, Cavill had been asking about the role even before casting was underway.

“It was something I wasn’t going to let pass me by without giving it my best shot,” Cavill told Vulture. “I annoyed my agents all the time. They said, ‘They’re not ready’.”

For the casting director, Cavill could only land the part if they could see the chemistry between him and Chalotra.

“She [Chalotra] was cast before anyone else. If you imagine casting sort of secondary lead before you’ve even found Geralt. They couldn’t chemistry read together. We’d already booked her,” Holland explained. “We had to find a guy who would just [fit].”

Fortunately for Cavill, it all worked out. “To be honest from the moment he opened his mouth we just knew,” she later confessed. “We just knew.”

Here’s How Anya Chalotra Really Feels About Working With Henry Cavill

So far, Chalotra and Cavill have already worked together on two whole seasons of the show. And for Chalotra, working with Superman has been quite an incredible experience. “[Henry] is lovely!” the actress remarked while speaking with Elle Australia.

“He’s a very sweet man—and the best person I could have worked with in this role – the enthusiasm and love he brings for The Witcher is always inspiring.”

After months of working together, the actors have found their rhythm when collaborating behind the scenes. Both Cavill and Chalotra are now very much involved in how Geralt and Yennefer’s love story unfolds in the story.

For instance, when things between the two characters were supposed to get steamy in season two, both agreed that it wouldn’t be a good idea.

“We just wanted to be very careful that it was true and real and it didn’t turn into something that we, as actors, didn’t believe it should be,” Cavill explained during an interview with Syfy Wire.

“We wanted it to be emotional rather than sexual. It was really, really important and we had to lean away from what was originally on the page.” In the end, the producers listened to the stars.

For now, fans will just have to wait a little longer to see Chalotra and Cavill onscreen together again. In the meantime, they can catch Caville in the sequel of Enola Holmes. He’s also got several upcoming film projects in the works.

As for Chalotra, she is hard at work on the production of the animated series New-Gen. Meanwhile, when they return as Yennefer and Geralt, fans have high hopes the reunion will be epic.
