Sean Hayes (Larry), Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly) will reprise their roles as the wacky brothers.

The Three Stooges are returning to the screen with a new film that is being assembled by C3 Entertainment, Grand Peaks Entertainment and The Exchange.

Sean Hayes (Larry), Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly) will reprise their roles as the wacky brothers who last hit the big screen in a 2012 film directed by the Farrelly Brothers. That film earned $55 million worldwide.

Cameron Fay, who wrote the upcoming Paramount film Brother in Laws, will pen the script, which is being envisioned as an action-comedy rather than a straight comedy. The producers are looking to add a major action star to to the cast.

C3 and Grand Peaks will produce with The Exchange, which also is handling worldwide sales. C3, owner of The Three Stooges brand, will run the film’s licensing, merchandising and promotional programs.

“With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges, and Cameron writing, this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of The Three Stooges,” C3 CEO Earl Benjamin said.

Added The Exchange CEO Brian O’Shea: “The Three Stooges is an incredibly powerful brand, I am looking forward to giving the independent distributors the opportunity to participate in this commercial phenomenon.”

C3’s Pablo Velez will produce alongside Grand Peaks’ Alan Simpson (The Last Five Years) and The Exchange’s Nat McCormick. Simpson and McCormick will provide the film’s development financing through their Exchange Peaks Capital Fund.

Earl Benjamin and Robert Benjamin will executive produce along with O’Shea and Jeff Bowler.

Fay, who also has Cosmic in development at Walden, is repped by Paradigm, Kaplan/Perrone and Lichter Grossman.
