Wild God Of War Video Sees Tony Soprano Replace Kratos

Tony Soprano of The Sopranos fame trades the mean streets of New Jersey for the nine realms of Asgard in a fun God of War (2018) fan video.

While the gaming world continues to celebrate God of War Ragnarok, a fun fan video images what it would be like if Tony Soprano replaced Kratos in the previous game. Played by the late James Gandolfini, Tony was the main character of The Sopranos, a critically acclaimed HBO series that told the story of a mob family living in New Jersey. The show ran for six seasons and became one of the defining TV series of the 2000s, thanks in no small part to Tony’s struggles balancing his mundane family life with his violent position as the head of a prominent crime family

It might be easy to draw a comparison between Tony Soprano and the aged Kratos from God of War Ragnarok, as both characters are torn between raising their families and coming to terms with their violent pasts. A talented YouTuber by the handle of eli_handle_b․wav recently took such a comparison one step further by editing scenes from God of War to feature Tony in the place of Kratos. Tony begins by standing menacingly in front of the cremated remains of his late wife Faye before being confronted by characters like Freya and Mimir about his secret life as a mafia boss, trying to mentor his son Atreus, and even brutally beating the villainous Balder to death.

Tony Soprano Fits Well In The World Of God of War

Eli_handle_b․wav’s recent edit of Tony Soprano in God of War (2018) is just the latest of their attempts to insert popular characters from movies and television into video games, as they have done similar videos showing Mr. Bean in Cyberpunk 2077 and Austin Powers in Mass Effect. Meanwhile, modders have reskinned Kratos as the likes of Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty, Homer Simpson, and even God of War director Corey Barlog.

Viewers have praised eli_handle_b․wav in the comments section of their latest video, noting how seamlessly the footage of Tony Soprano has been edited into scenes from God of War and the overall novel concept of inserting the New Jersey crime boss into the cold and barren land of Midgard. Sure enough, Tony looks right at home amid the snow-covered forests and brutal action of God of War, and even his interactions with other characters feel natural thanks to the clips chosen.

Now that God of War Ragnarok has been out for a good while and has made history as one of the fastest-selling PlayStation games to date, there will likely be plenty more fun, fan-made crossovers with other games, TV shows, and movies in the future. In the meantime, it looks like Tony Soprano could be looking to start a mob war with Odin and the gods of Asgard – one that could literally lead to the end of the world.
