Yellowstone Season 2 Premiere Date on Paramount Network Announced

Paramount Network sets the Yellowstone season 2 premiere date for June 2019; the series stars Kevin Costner and was co-created by Taylor Sheridan.

Paramount Network announces the Yellowstone season 2 premiere date is in June 2019. Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, the drama series centers on different people living on the state borders near Yellowstone National Park.

In Yellowstone, Kevin Costner stars a John Dutton, a man who owns America’s largest shared-border ranch. The American actor famously directed and starred in the 1991 western Dances with Wolves. More recently, Costner starred in History’s 2012 docudrama Hatfields & McCoys and won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie. For Yellowstone, Costner stars alongside Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, and Danny Huston – the son of the famous American filmmaker John Huston. In 2018, Yellowstone was the most-watched new cable series.

Per Deadline, Paramount Network has set the Yellowstone season 2 premiere date as June 19. In addition, a first-look teaser was released. The 15-second clip references an impending war in the valley, and that sides will have to chosen. The video features a wide ranch shot, with a steer running directly towards the camera. Yellowstone season 1 premiered on June 20, 2018 and concluded its nine-episode run last August. For the first episode, “Daybreak,” cinematographer Ben Richardson was honored by the American Society of Cinematographers Awards with a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography in Regular Series for Commercial Television. In 2012, Richardson made his feature debut by filming the American drama Beasts of the Southern Wild, which won the Caméra d’Or award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Yellowstone was created by an accomplished feature filmmaker. The aforementioned Sheridan wrote and directed the 2017 neo-western Wind River, and he wrote the screenplays for both Sicario and Sicario: Day of the Soldado. In addition, Sheridan wrote the 2016 neo-western Hell or High Water and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. On the FX series Sons of Anarchy, Sheridan had a recurring role as Deputy Chief David Hale.

Yellowstone’s co-creator, Linson, is an accomplished film and TV producer. In 1998, he began his big screen producing career by teaming up with Alfonso Cuarón for Great Expectations. Linson is also a renowned music video director and produced the 2010 rock biopic The Runaways starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. On television, Linson is best known for serving as an executive producer on FX’s Sons of Anarchy.

For western fans, the announcement of Yellowstone’s season 2 premiere date must be exciting, at least given the series’ cultural impact and acclaim thus far. Given the names attached, along with the sociopolitical issues being addressed, there’s major potential for the series moving forward. Most importantly, one doesn’t have to be a western fan to appreciate Yellowstone, and the series’ fan base will likely increase significantly if the new episodes resonate with audiences this summer.
