It’s safe to say that one of the hallmarks of a great franchise is when its spinoffs receive spinoffs of their own, and that’s precisely what might happen to the Breaking Bad spinoff series Better Call Saul.The most recent chatter regarding the Breaking Bad franchise is a Better Call Saul spinoff series centered on Kim Wexler, portrayed by Rhea Seehorn.
Better Call Saul‘s Rhea Seehorn says she hopes to get a chance to play Kim Wexler again.
According to an interview at The Hollywood Reporter conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Seehorn previously stated that she’s open to reprising her role in the future due to the depth and complexity of her character.
“I don’t think that I will ever forget her,” Seehorn said. “I hope one day there’s an occasion to revisit these characters. Getting to play one character over the course of seven years, and the massive allowance of evolving and subtext and growth that they allowed us to play — she feels very three-dimensional as a human to me.”
Expanding upon how she saw Wexler, Seehorn continued, “There are parts of her that, as an actor and as a human, I am still trying to learn from, but I’m not fully successful. I don’t have a poker face like she does. I would like to not nervously fill silences. It was very meaningful to me to meet fans that Kim meant so much to and for me to realize [the viewers] are often her greatest confidants in scenes, because she doesn’t let other people in the room know what she’s thinking.”
This wouldn’t be surprising considering that Seehorn’s character received more focus and development than any other character on Better Call Saul, apart from the eponymous antihero himself.
It’s really interesting to see how the Breaking Bad franchise evolved, especially since most spinoffs don’t live up to the standards set by the original series. Better Call Saul and El Camino defied those odds by offering compelling narratives that measure up to that of the original while also offering three different but equally perfect endings to their respective stories.

The original Breaking Bad provided a perfect ending to the story of Walter White while also leaving the doors open to other in-universe narratives. El Camino did the same for Jesse Pinkman and Better Call Saul followed suit for the shady lawyer.
However, considering the amount of screen time Seehorn’s character received, and her importance in the latter’s narrative, we wouldn’t be surprised if a spinoff to Better Call Saul was in development.
However, Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and co-creator of Better Call Saul, has decided to take a break from writing antihero narratives. Considering that the conclusion of Better Call Saul basically concludes the entire Breaking Bad narrative, with fitting endings for all major characters, we wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to put a stop to Breaking Bad as a whole.
So, there’s actually no reason to dig through the entire narrative again when Better Call Saul provided Kim Wexler with a perfect send-off as well.
But Vince Gilligan’s desire to pause his writing of antihero characters doesn’t actually mean that Rhea Seehorn won’t be able to reprise her role. Previous reports have stated that Gilligan and Seehorn have teamed up for a new series described as a blended, grounded genre drama.
Considering that Kim Wexler basically acts as Saul’s moral compass, we might be looking into an actual Better Call Saul spinoff centered on Kim. But whether or not that’s the case remains to be seen.

As things currently are, there’s no indication that Gilligan and Seehorn are actually working on a Better Call Saul spinoff; the details are scarce, and for all we know, they might be working on an entirely separate project together. In the end, Gilligan is notoriously secretive about his shows, so until we have further confirmation, Better Call Saul spinoff remains in the speculative domain.
