‘Yellowstone’ Season 4 Star Piper Perabo Says Filming at the Ranch Is ‘Like Being in a Dream’

For Piper Perabo, being on Yellowstone is awesome as she’s a fan of the show. Yet what about the Dutton Ranch itself?

Perabo, who made her debut on the Western drama in Season 4, Episode 5, as Summer Higgins, talked about the ranch in an interview with TV Insider. Higgins shows up at a protest.

She says, “I don’t think I’ve ever done a TV show where I was a fan before I did the show. That’s really rare for me.

“The Dutton Ranch is a real place,” Perabo says. “It’s called Chief Joe Ranch. It’s out in Montana and that’s where they film. And so to have watched three seasons of Yellowstone on this sort of almost dreamlike perfect ranch, and then to drive up the road onto Dutton ranch, I almost can’t compare it to anything. It’s sort of like being in a dream.”

‘Yellowstone’ Actress Could Not Believe How Big Dutton Ranch Is In Real Life

Now, Outsiders, the Yellowstone actress said the ranch was so strange because it’s real.

“And when you watch a TV show, you imagine, ‘Oh, just turn the camera a little bit to the left and then there’s skyscrapers right there,” Picabo says. “Oh, you just turn around, and there’s a huge housing complex right there. The Dutton ranch isn’t like that. The Dutton ranch is even bigger than you can see on television.

“It goes for miles and miles, and it’s so beautiful,” the Summer Higgins actress says. “And there was one night when I had a long time before I started filming and I went for a run out on one of the dirt roads of the ranch, and there were elk out in one of the main pastures and it just felt like, ‘Oh my God, I’m really on Yellowstone.’ It was so cool.”

Yellowstone will continue the storyline for Summer and the Duttons next Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Central, on the Paramount Network.

Perabo Gets Big Break In Movie ‘Coyote Ugly’ Along with Bridget Moynahan

Before Perabo tangled with the Duttons in Yellowstone, she actually got her big break in the movie Coyote Ugly in 2000. Perabo co-starred with Blue Bloods actress Bridget Moynahan in there.

Other movies in Perabo’s career include The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, The Prestige, Carriers, and Looper.

Someone else also popped up in Sunday night’s Yellowstone episode.

Barry Corbin, who plays a cowboy on the Four-Sixes Ranch, made his debut during Sunday night’s episode.

IMDb states that his name on the show is Ross. We first meet Ross while he’s sitting on a barrel waiting for Jimmy Hurdstrom, played by Jefferson White, to wake up.
